Don’t expect AJ Lee to come back to WWE any time soon. After Stephanie McMahon tweeted:
AJ did a retweet and responded with:
----UPDATE-----
It's quite the night for Twitter. Stephanie McMahon responded to AJ Lee's scathing comments about how WWE pays and uses it's female performers, writing:

In WWE's "defense" my assumption is that the women are paid according to their role on the card, so they aren't being mistreated any more than (for example) Justin Gabriel and Tyson Kidd were for years. That being said, I definitely think that their gender has played a big part in them being slotted into the role they are in, the same way that TNA has treated the X-Division for the past few years as mere spotfest opener guys.
But yeah... I wasn't expecting to see AJ back any time soon anyway, so props to her for realizing that she has the chance to make a stand without any of the political repercussions others would have to worry about.

According to Meltzer, AJ's claims about the women selling merch and being in he highest-rated segments are pretty much entirely untrue. AJ herself was apparently selling a lot of merch for a while, but nowhere close to the top guys, and none of the other women were anywhere close to AJ.
The highest-rated segment thing is only true in cases where there are also top male stars involved, like when AJ was with Bryan... and Punk... and Cena... and Dolph, so in a way AJ is actually in the wrong here.
Dave says that on the main roster, women tend to make less than the men, but in NXT, the women actually tend to make more than the men, but that is because most of the guys come from the indies and are willing to accept a lot less, whereas most of the women (and some of the men who are pro athletes) come from modeling and thus expect more money.

merch wise, they still sell more than half of the roster featured on RAW, they may not sell more than the top guys, but at this point, i would bet they (AJ, Bellas, and Paige) sell more than all your champions except Brock. Regardless of what anyone can say, the Divas deserve more than 1minute matches, especially when you're filling a 3 hour show with recaps and retarded segments of how The Rock presented an Oscar or Erick Rowan matches

I'm not disagreeing that they deserve more time. I'm just saying that merch-wise, AJ is incorrect. They might sell more on average, but that's because most of the guys have no merch at all or sh*tty merch. There are more guys on the roster, therefore there are more irrelevant guys.
And do the Bellas really sell that much merch? Even Paige I can't see selling THAT much merch because she's been a heel basically her whole time on the roster.

all 4 of them, and even Natty have huuge fanbases, all those little girls are not exactly gonna go and by an Orton tshirt, they go for the AJ or the Paige, and being heel doesn't really hurt the divas, they still sell tons just for being women. and so what if AJ is incorrect, numbers are irrelevant really, it's just about Stephanie's shit about supporting women and empowering them, and AJ calling her out on her bullshit, because the women that are under Steph's wing are not threaded equally. Ronda Rousy is main eventing UFC shows and is literally the biggest draw they have, meanwhile, WWE can't even be bothered to write compelling intelligent stories or characters for their female employees

My point is that they're not treated any worse than any other undercard act who is a lot better than the time he/she is given. I'm not saying that AJ is wrong in her message. I think that her main point is correct. Women in WWE are not given the chance to live up to their potential. But to claim that they are in the highest rated segments on the show is utterly silly, and it hurts the ability to take her argument seriously.

the problem here is that they're getting payed (reportedly) far less than those same undercard acts that sell less merch and sometimes get more time on screen. Booking wise they may all be in the same place, but the guys in that place are getting more money.
