WWE has announced an NXT show on 3/27, Friday night, at the San Jose State University Events Center, a 5,000 seat arena a few blocks from Fan Axxess.

The show will have a 10 p.m. start time.

They will also be running two straight nights, 5/15 and 5/16, at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia. This will be a few days after ROH runs two dates in the same building with New Japan Pro Wrestling.

The timing here is both interesting and scary. While this really seems to be giving credence to the whole "TAKE DOWN THE INDIES" theory (Mania weekend is Mania weekend, and we know that they have been trying to stop indies from running in town on Mania weekend- plus the Philly shows are a few days after the ROH/New Japan shows in Philly, but also a week after a CZW/WSU show in a Philly suburb and the week before a CHIKARA show in Easton), of the three ROH shows they are running "against" (although only one is direct competition), two of them are already sold out and have been for a while.
If they want to test NXT's drawing power against the indies they're definitely giving themselves a very tough test to do it.

i don't think it's that big of a test really, it's a fight they have all the tools to win, they're the super indie now, with the guys that everyone wants to see, everyone who likes the indies is a huge fan of NXT already. it's really scary to think that WWE would have this idea of Taking down the indies, and worst of it all, they have the tool to do it. Monopoly will only kill the business.

My point is that it's as tough as a weekend as they're going to get unless they choose to run directly opposite DGUSA on the same night as ROH PPV which also happens to be the same night as big CZW and/or CHIKARA show in the area. My point is that they could have chosen a MUCH easier weekend for themselves if they wanted to.

Totally agree with you about the whole "take down the indies" thing being scary when you realize that their current developmental system has really produced only two people who have top talent potential: Charlotte and Reigns. The other guys who could be top stars (both in WWE and NXT) are pretty much all either from the indies (and I'm counting all European promotions as indies), Japan, or the old OVW system
