Hunter being a fan of Mayweather isn't news. What is news is that Mayweather's camp wouldn't give Beadle (and another well-known female reporter who, like Beadle, has been an outspoken critic of Mayweather's because of his history of abuse) press credentials for the fight. This seems a lot like she's just lashing out at Mayweather in the only way she can. I'd hope that her love for pro wrestling isn't that shallow that'd she'd give it up all together because of something Floyd Mayweather did. I hope she starts to seek out ROH or TNA or Lucha Underground.

For WWE, of course, losing a celebrity fan, and especially a "real sports" person is always bad press.

Either way, I'd hope her love isn't so shallow that she'd drop it because of something Mayweather did rather than something that WWE has done.

Amid all the drama surrounding this past weekend's Floyd Mayweather/Manny Pacquaio bout was a story that media personalities previously critical of Mayweather's checkered past with domestic violence were having their credientials denied. ESPN & HBO personality Michelle Beadle was one of those people.

Beadle addressed the situation in a Twitlonger post Tuesday, also clarifying her issues with WWE and specifically Paul "Triple H" Levesque for supporting Mayweather:

"I’m a fan of Triple H. As a wrestler, he was a big part of many of my memories, even as recently as this year's Wrestlemania. As an Executive Vice President, he's successfully led the charge in building the WWE's farm system, NXT. WWE proudly lends its name and backing to Susan G. Komen, Make-A-Wish, and Boys and Girls Clubs, to name a few. They’ve been deeply involved in building an Anti-Bullying campaign, Be A Star. And just last year, Stephanie McMahon strengthened the company’s domestic violence policies: “We have a zero tolerance policy for domestic abuse. That's from the Wellness Policy that applies to all WWE talent. Imagine my confusion when, during the maelstrom of the weekend, I noticed a few tweets that may have, at any other time, gone unnoticed. Tweets that caused me to question my support of the WWE and the man who sits near the top of the company's food chain. "So why now," some have wondered. Because sometimes it takes a little longer to see the light. Triple H has continued to display his relationship with Floyd Mayweather through social media, the most recent being a hearty congratulations to the boxer following his victory Saturday night.

It's not my place to say what one should and should not do on Twitter, especially during personal time. However the era in which we're living is rapidly changing. And the lines between one's corporate and private personas have blurred. Triple H has over two million followers. He’s one of the faces of a company that depends on a healthy public image. I realize he doesn’t speak for everyone, but does he realize that when he shows support to a convicted batterer, friend or not, it can effectively damage so much goodwill that the company is admittedly doing? It’s hard to sell a message of anti-bullying while slapping the ultimate bully on the back. I was a fan. A big fan. But it’s time to use my voice."

I see what she's saying, but I honestly hope that people don't actually think this way. Being a fan of the guy's professional work does not mean you support domestic violence. How is it not obvious to everyone that there's a clear line here. If we discovered that the first person to tell a particular joke was Hitler and the joke was genuinely funny, are we supposed to pretend the joke isn't funny simply because it's Hitler's joke?

it's not about fooling people into thinking they're not watching pro-wrestling, but about people who only know WWE and that's as far as they go, they may know there are independent wrestling out there, but they're WWE fans, not wrestling fans. I think that is where Vince succeeded, in creating a brand, a product that has fans regardless of what they do, fans that once they dislike and stop watching the product, they just stop watching wrestling altogether. I kinda see it like those people who say are Marvel fans, but they're really just Marvel movie fans and have no idea what goes on with the comics. They just like the mainstream brand everyone else talks about, not the actual core of what made that brand to begin with

I guess it just doesn't register to me that you can like a genre and not search out more of it. Fifteen years ago I wouldn't have dreamed that I would read a comic that wasn't Marvel or DC, but then I realized that it's all the same genre and there's no reason that I wouldn't like IDW or Dark Horse just because the label is different.

If you like mysteries, you're not going to only read Agatha Christie. I just don't get how this is different for people.
