As noted, Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman will be on tomorrow’s WWE RAW from Columbus, Ohio. WWE has announced that they will appear on The Highlight Reel with Chris Jericho. WWE posted this teaser:

Brock Lesnar has taken Roman Reigns to Suplex City before, but The Big Dog’s brutal encounter with The Beast Incarnate on Raw last week was painful for multiple reasons. Already facing an uphill battle by having to defend his WWE World Heavyweight Championship against 29 Superstars in the 2016 Royal Rumble Match, Reigns now also finds himself in the crosshairs of The Anomaly, a monster who will stop at nothing to ascend to the top of the sports-entertainment food chain. Whatever strategy Reigns had for this near-impossible title defense just went right out the window.

Following that savage display of aggression, Lesnar will appear on Chris Jericho’s “The Highlight Reel” alongside Paul Heyman. What questions will Y2J have for The Beast and his calculating advocate? No matter what happens, The Big Dog will be watching. Believe that.

My God this sentence really proves WWE are overboard with Nicknames.

"The Big Dog’s brutal encounter with The Beast Incarnate"

They've been that way for years. The worst was when they got really lazy with it, too, and an article about Rey Mystery vs. Jeff Hardy would talk about "The Master of 619" vs. "The Master of the Swanton Bomb" and not in a way like they were saying "whoever hits their finisher first will surely win. They were just using those as nicknames. It was atrocious. I've been very disappointed to see this nickname crap popping up in ROH, too, recently.

I happen to think it's linked to MMA/Boxing where everyone has a natural nickname to go with their name. And they're trying a bit of that. But it's only really worth while when a few girls have it "The Big Red Machine" "The Deadman" "The Game".

When everyone has a nickname it's just.. Pointless and forced and I don't like it, why is Roman Reigns "The Big Dog"?? Why is this a nickname?

Examples...
Big Red Machine - He's Big, wears red and is a machine.
The Deadman - He portrays a deadman who deals with the dead.
The Game/Cerebral Assassin - Portrayed as a very smart ring competitor who will outsmart you and win.
The Beast Incarnate - It's Brock Lesnar
The People's Champion - Hugely loved superstar.

The Big Dog? - Ummm...
Have A Nice Day!

Weird as it is to say, I think that the person saying it makes a difference. I've long been a believer in the idea of a "sports voice." Some people just sound natural calling play by play. JR's got it. He can make that random sh*t work. So could Vince with his commentary voice. Don West had it, which is why his ridiculousness was possible to overlook some of the time. Cole... kind of has it at times, but the other WWE announcers (aside from Mauro) really don't, and so sh*t that sounds fine when it comes from JR or Joey Styles or Tony Schiavone or 1994 Vince McMahon sounds horrible and stupid and fake when when JBL or Byron Saxton or Josh Matthews says it.

I actually agree with you. Ranello, JR, McMahon, West, Styles and occasionally even Matt Striker could make a great moment heart stopping just from the way they called it!

They could also make and break a wrestler's career. I'll never forget JR shouting "as God as my witness he is dead" during the famous Mick Foley Undertaker match. Or Striker's calling of the rumble when he actually marked out for Diesel & Booker T.

If you have the voice. You can make something more for that talent in the ring.

What annoys me more is the nicknames that don't actually make any sense, like calling Braun Strowman "the black sheep of the Wyatt Family." How? How is he any different than the others? He doesn't dress or behave any differently, so how is he the "black sheep?" It's like someone in WWE heard the phrase "black sheep of the family" and thought it sounded cool and wanted to use it and not one single person in the company has pointed out that using the expression incorrectly makes them sound like idiots.

He wears a black sheep mask and that's about it.

So by that logic Rowan should be the White Sheep of the Wyatt Family.
