BALOR VIDEO PACKAGE- if this all leads to a heel turn- or at least a tease of one- then this is fine. If it doesn’t, then what is the point of all of this “demon” stuff?
OPENING SEGMENT- Balor starts to cut a promo about losing the title to Joe, but then The Drifter shows up to interrupt him. He’s getting Eva Marie/BJ Whitmer levels of heat. He sang a song, then told Balor he was nothing without the title. Finn hit him with a Pele Kick. The Drifter bailed so Finn picked up the guitar and chucked it towards the rmap but the drifter managed to catch it.
ERIC YOUNG PROMO FROM LAST WEEK- mostly tolerable aside from the part where he TWICE declared himself to be a “world class maniac” even though he is acting like a completely normal person.
NEW GIRL OVER-DRAMATICALLY ASKS BALOR A QUESTION- he cuts a promo on Joe.
AMERICAN ALPHA vs. COREY HOLLIS & JOHN SKYLER- squash
The champs beat up the jobbers. The Revival came out to try to distract the champs but they just hit the jobbers with one or two more moves and then pinned them. Jordan and Gable challenged the Revival to get into the ring with them but the Revival backed off.
NEW GIRL INTERVIEWS SHINSUKE NAKAMURA- he was kind of goofy, but he’s Nakamura so you can’t help but smile. I guess it kind of came across like he was mocking Riley’s dumb catchphrase.
SHINSUKE NAKAMURA vs. ALEX RILEY- Really fun semi-squash
ARIES & REGAL IN REGAL’S OFFICE- they are interrupted by two guys who I realized were Blake and Murphy only once the Australian one started talking.
I popped HUGE when Aries said that they disrespected him not just by interrupting him but by not even having the decency to bring Alexa Bliss! along with them if he was going to have to endure their presence. It turns out they did have Alexa with them but were just keeping her off screen because they hate me. Regal booked Blake & Murphy vs. Aries & a partner of his choice for next week. Aries said he wouldn’t need a partner to beat them, but he’d “make a call” anyway.
ALEXA BLISS! vs. RACHAEL ELLERING- 4/10
Blake & Murphy didn’t come out to the ring with her despite the fact that they were with her right before the commercial break.
First Tessa Blanchard, now Rachael Ellering? Is Lance Storm booking Alexa Bliss!’s opponents?
Alexa spent most of the match tearing Raechel’s arm apart, then won with the Sparkle Splash. If she’s going to be a heel, she should get another finish, and I think an arm submission would be a good choice. Also, she did that goozle into a thrust slam spot. She needs to keep doing that until they find someone else small to book her against (Rosita is even smaller than Alexa is and is also Aries’ fiancée so that’s not inconceivable) so she can do a full-fledged chokeslam.
NIA JAX & BAYLEY BACKSTAGE- Good segment.
It built up a future match and the interviewer’s question served to remind us that Bayley does still have a rematch against Asuka coming whenever she wants it.
FINN BALOR vs. “THE DRIFTER” ELIAS SAMPSON- 4.5/10
Balor won with Bloody Sunday, which WWE has renamed “1916.” So they’re still naming the move after the same thing, except that this name is much less specific and much lamer. Why not just call it “Bloody Sunday.”
FINN BALOR PROMO- GREAT!
Yeah… we’re getting crazy Balor out of this.
SAMOA JOE COMES OUT!
Then a VERY angry William Regal came out and said that he is in charge and he doesn’t want his wrestling show to devolve into violence. He books Joe vs. Balor for the next Takeover special in a few weeks in June. Joe said that Balor didn’t deserve this shot. Balor wiped Joe out with a dive and then walked to the back. Great angle.
A decent show from NXT. It really feels like stuff is starting to pick up again. Plus, we got TWO Alexa Bliss segments!

Because he's classy. The violence is only supposed to be in the matches.
