MORE ON SITUATION SURROUNDING NEXT MONTH'S TRENT ACID CUP IN PHILADELPHIA

A follow-up regarding the Trent Acid Cup event which is being promoted on 10/22 in Philadelphia, PA at the 2300 Arena. The show was something John Zandig (who was extremely close to Acid) pitched to GCW earlier this year regarding the promotion getting involved in. Zandig then went forward to book the 2300 Arena.

In speaking to GCW's Brett Lauderdale today, who identified himself as the "facilitator" and that the show was something Zandig was in control of, he stated that he had personally spoken with Acid's aunt and explained that they were seeking to honor Trent and that money raised from donated items that would be auctioned off at the event would then be given to the family for them to do what they wished to do with it.

Lauderdale noted that at the time he spoke with Acid's aunt, she was on board with the show. Lauderdale noted that he had not personally spoken with Acid's mother and expected that Zandig would contact her at some point. He said that he is not aware of why anyone from the family would have come out against the show and hoped that situation would be resolved quickly and quietly as no one involved wanted to bring a negative connotation to Acid's memory or name.

As noted previously, the show is scheduled to feature a number of talents who were close with Acid including Johnny Kashmere, Homicide, Teddy Hart and others. Lauderdale made clear that the show is not being promoted as a Memorial event, nor are talents donating their time to appear. It is simply a show being promoted to keep Acid's name alive and show respect for him, I was told.

The promotion may issue a statement in the coming days.
