ROH expecting three names to be WWE bound, Fish rejected WWE offer

via WONewsletter

Jay Lethal, Bobby Fish, Hangman Page and Christopher Daniels signed new contracts. Lethal signed a two-year-deal.

Right now, ROH officials expect Kyle O’Reilly and Ray Rowe to leave for WWE, and that just about everyone else is staying. At this point, Rowe & Hanson are attempting to stay together as a tag team and make a package deal with ROH, New Japan, the combination of both or WWE all in the hunt. The belief is Adam Cole will be WWE-bound in May but from a legal standpoint he’s not even allowed to negotiate with them until 5/1.

From a legal standpoint, none of the contracted talent was allowed to negotiate with anyone else until 1/1. Quite clearly things went down very differently in real life.

Fish ended up taking this offer above an offer from WWE.

Of all the people to leave, Kyle is the most shocking. He's not really a WWE-quality promo, he doesn't have size, and they've already got a million cruiserweights. The ROH/New Japan combo seems like it should be by far the best place for Kyle. This is baffling.

they don't need him to cover some specific style or anything, they're just signing everyone to create a monopoly, look at all the people that rejected WWE's offer, WWE just wants to sign everyone so no one can grow

I'm saying that I don't get it from Kyle's POV. He's got to know this, right? ROH/New Japan (and PWG and RPW thrown in there) is clearly the best fit for him, and if Fish wasn't happy with his offer I can't imagine Kyle's was much better (Fish is older, but certainly a much better promo). It just... seems like a very odd career move for Kyle. Like one that he has to know is a dead end, as opposed to ROH (and PWG) where he will be a top guy, and New Japan where he will always have consistent work.
