As WWE gets closer to WrestleMania with each passing week, the company revealed another member of this year's Hall of Fame class on Monday afternoon.
USA Today was chosen to break the news that Beth Phoenix will be inducted into the 2017 Hall of Fame class. She joins Kurt Angle, The Rock 'n' Roll Express, Teddy Long, and Diamond Dallas Page as the already announced members of the lineup.
“To hear they find my career was worthy enough and that I did well enough in the ring to be honored among the greatest of all time was incredible and the biggest compliment I could ever ask for,” Phoenix told USA Today. “It’s still sinking in and is very surreal.”
With Phoenix's husband Adam "Edge" Copeland having previously been inducted in 2012, the couple are now the only spouses currently in the Hall of Fame.
“He was like, ‘Oh, Ok.’ He wasn’t shocked by it at all,” Phoenix said about her husband's reaction to the news that she would be joining the Hall of Fame.
“He’s like, ‘Of course, you deserve it.’ I was shocked by that response, too. I said, ‘You think I deserve this? Is this the right time?’ He was 100 percent confident and he made me feel like a million bucks about it. He is super excited. We’re still celebrating it and looking forward to seeing everyone at WrestleMania and enjoying the experience.”
Phoenix is both a former Women's and Divas Champion and was one of the better workers in the division prior to the current period that WWE has dubbed as the "women's revolution." She debuted on the main roster in 2006 after a stint in Ohio Valley Wrestling before retiring in 2012.

For being a woman and being currently alive. That's the problem with WWE and their quotas and their insistence on having large numbers of inductees every year. This whole thing is a PR exercise. They don't want too many dead people because that's sad. They want a woman because they want to be able to say "look! We're honoring a woman!" but they can't give it to a famous woman of a bygone era because that would expose that their precious "women's revolution" is not some revolutionary idea thought out by Stephanie McMahon, matron saint of women's wrestling all around the world, but rather that women being treated purely as athletes used to be the standard until WWE came along and changed it to T&A. Hence we get a living woman from the modern era who, while a good worker, had a relatively short and unspectacular career, but is someone who they can show clips of her wrestling men (ignoring that fact that the way she eliminated Khali from the Royal Rumble involved seducing him because WWE doesn't actually understand feminism) and talk about how revolutionary she was while inviting no inquiries into the falsehood of their revisionist history.

Exactly. She didn't even stay for ten years.
Theodore Long was another question mark for me.
Now Eric Bischoff?
You know what they say "Controversy, creates cash."
On the previous note... Who would have been a better candidate?
Rockin' Robin, there we go.

Long i can understand, he's been in wrestling for a long time, he was a manager, ref, gm, and wrestled bischoff.
I hadn't seen anything on Bischoff, is it official?
as per women, I'm still waiting for Ivory, for Molly Holly, for Chyna (who actually died, so they could do it since they just didn't want her to be there in person), Bull Nakano.

Long was so terrible as a ref that they decided to make him a manager again.
As for women... Nakano is a good choice. I'd say Chyna is, too (she's basically a female Ultimate Warrior), but for any other choices that haven't wrestled almost exclusively in Japan you'd have to go back to, like, the 1970s at least. Quite simply their quotas have caused them to completely run out of worthy candidates.

Bischoff, no. I was just putting a better suggestion out there for a better "non wrestler", since there has to be one every year.

Long contributed soooo much-like dozens of tag team matchs.

First off, you were wrong BRM. They showed the kiss.
Secondly, Natalya was "inspired" by Beth Phoenix. "She was one of the first women to ever inspire " her.
This is that WWE forced putting over nonsense no one could ever believe.
I imagine She was wrestling years before Beth Phoenix was, but Phoenix inspired HER. Yeah, ok.
