--------------
The final two stops of Chikara's Season were this past weekend in Haverhill, MA and South Windsor, CT. Chikara has been a really fun deviation from everything I dislike about mainstream professional wrestling. First and foremost, it is fun. Thanks guys for making me have fun with wrestling again. It's been a long time. Below are reviews of the double shot from this weekend.
Chikara Pro Wrestling On Her Majesty's Secret Service 11/15/14
Haverhill, MA
Attendance: 200-250ish
(1) Sir Oliver Grimsley & Bruderschaft des Kreuzes (Jakob Hammermeier & Nokken) with Milo Schnitzler & Slashxxx b 3.Cheerio (Jervis Cottonbelly & 3.0 (Shane "Big Magic" Matthews & Scott "Jagged" Parker)) in 10 minutes when Hammermier p Cottonbelly after a running punch. 3.Cheerio all came out with mustaches & Jervis-styled hats. 3.0 gave theirs to kids. Fun opener. Milo botched Jakob's name in the intro. The new schtick is that Milo is a hanger on toadie that is bossed around. Jakob and Nokken drag Milo out. Wish Grimsley got more time.
(2) Missile Assault Ant b Princess Kimberlee in 6 minutes with a roaring uppercut as Kimberlee came off the top rope. Exactly what it should have been. Missile Assault Ant now heads to Chikara's Tomorrow Never Dies event on December 6th against Heidi Lovelace for the Young Lion's Cup XI.
(3) Worker Ant II b Prakash Saber with a discus lariat in 7 minutes in a Magic Move Match. Worker Ant II did a clothesline so everyone in attendance got a I Am CHIKARA Sticker.
Then came a big surprise, at least in Chikara world. Deucalion, the big bad terrorizing Chikara since its return show in May, made his in ring debut.
(4) The Batiri (Kodama & Obaryian) & The Spectral Envoy (Frightmare, Hallowicked, & Ultra Mantis Black) b The Flood (Deucalion, "The Zombie Princess" Jimmy Jacobs, The Shard, 17, & Volgar The Unknown) when Frightmare pinned Shard in 7 minutes with a crucifix. This was a complete brawl the entire time. Deucalion was slow to join the brawl. The story here was Deucalion destroying people. Shard got flash pinned in the ring and Deucalion lost it. Deucalion tried to kill Frightmare with his chokebreaker. 17 turned on the Flood and saved Frightmare. 17 bailed out of the building. The faces left the ring. This left Deucalion with his general Jimmy Jacobs. Deucalion threatened to off Jacbos (this is at least the 3rd time) due to the failures of the Flood. Jacobs pleaded. Jacobs sold out The Shard, who was still laying in the ring after the finish. Deucalion then sacrificed The Shard and hit the chokebreaker. The Shard was left in the ring and eventually carried out by workers. As per Chikara, The Shard is now dead. This was really good for what it was and it was fun to see that pretty much the entire crowd knew the Deucalion's big move actually kills people.
Intermission
(5) Shynron b The Proletariat Boar of Moldova in 6-7 minutes with a 720 from the middle turnbuckle. He may have gotten more rotation than that. Shynron had some trouble with the size of Boar, but this was fun.
Chikara Selfie Party was next up. These are fun.
(6) Juan Francisco de Cornado b "Smooth Sailin'" Ashley Remington in 13 minutes with a high waisted German Suplex with his feet on the ropes. This was Remington's first singles loss that I can recall, at least in Chikara. Juan got revenge for his loss in Gibsonville, NC 3 weeks ago. Juan showed signs of friendliness, building up a bit from how things ended in that bout. Juan brought Ashley a fruit basket of his own (this is Remington's schtick) at the end of the match. Juan teased being kind with it, but then hit Remington with it. Awww. These guys have fun but are usually just off a step.
As per usual, the pre-main event ritual of RAFFLEMANIA~! and the ceremony of the fans being the beating heart of Chikara.
(7) The Wrecking Crew (Jaka, Oleg The Usurper, & The Devastation Corporation (Blaster McMassive, Flex Rumblecrunch, & Max Smashmaster) with Sidney Bakabella b The Golden Trio (Icarus & The Throwback ("Mr. Touchdown" Mark Angelosetti & Dasher Hatfield)) & The Osirian Portal (Amasis & Ophidian) when Smashmaster p Hatfield after The Death Blow (double leg pick-up/splash from the middle rope) in 24 minutes, but it didn't feel it. Really fun. Sidney was great. Big spot was Max getting tossed to the floor from the top by Icarus onto everyone else. You really got the feeling he'd been dying to do a spot like that for a while, but didn't have the bodies to pull it off. This was a really fun main where everyone got to look good. The DevCorp beating The Throwbacks is a big deal leading into December 6th's iPPV Tomorrow Never Dies.
