BRM Reviews the 1/14/2015 NXT (awesome)

TYSON KIDD vs. FINN BALOR- 6.75/10
These two put on a great match that felt like it could have really been awesome if they gave it five or ten more minutes, but they didn’t have time for that tonight.
We also learned that Rich Brennan and Alex Riley don’t watch New Japan, because when Balor did the Slingblade, they both had no idea what to call it. It took them forever to come up with “clothesline into a neckbreaker.”

DEVIN INTERVIEWS BULL DEMPSEY- Devin asked a question that was not “what are your thoughts.” Also, Dempsey’s promo was pretty good.

BARIN CORBIN vs. BULL DEMPSEY- 1.75/10
Yeah… I was really expecting something better out pf this. It wasn’t even as fun as Bull vs. Mojo. They are sure putting A LOT of faith in a guy who hasn’t even proven that he can talk (and before anyone makes a Goldberg comparison, Bill Goldberg looked like a complete and total badass. Barin Corbin doesn’t).

CHARLOTTE & NATALYA vs. SASHA BANKS & BECKY LYNCH- 5/10
Short. Sasha pins Charlotte, so we’ll be getting that title match again... which isn’t exactly a bad thing, but Sasha has lost to Charlotte twice in the past month. I think it’s be better to give Becky a title shot next and keep Charlotte vs. Sasha hot by doing Charlotte & Bayley vs. Sasha & Becky as some sort of big grudge match to set up Sasha vs. Charlotte again.

NXT TITLE MATCH: Sami Zayn(c) vs. Adrian Neville- 8/10
They did a great job of telling their story which was that they had wrestled each other so many times that they were almost instinctively countering each other’s signature moves and really had to either beat the other guy down or catch him by surprise in order to hit them.

KEVIN OWENS ATTACKS SAMI ZAYN- what an asshole!

An awesome show from NXT, although I think would have benefited from cutting either the women’s match or the Zayn vs. Kidd match and splitting the time between the other match and Corbin-Dempsey, then doing the cut match as a main event next week.

STUPID ANNOUNCER QUOTES:
1. Alex Riley called the Charlotte vs. Nattie match on Raw “such a good match.” IT WENT THREE MINUTES. Goodbye credibility.

or Seth Rollins match since i'm sure he's done it before too, and i fell Sin Cara has done it too. I've realized this is something i hate about WWE commentary, that for the sake of the 'you never know what these guys will come up with" or trying to make it seem that the millionth repetition of a match was somehow unique, the announcers either fake how unacknowledged they are, or simply are. No wonder guys like Striker and Matthews never worked for WWE, they actually know about wrestling.

Striker is quite bad at that as well. He's even worse because he goes back and forth between the two.
