Kevin Kelly started this show off by telling us that "sixty minutes could change the course of the future of professional wrestling." That's some REALLY big hype their, Kevin. Let's see if the show lives up to it.
RODERICK STRONG vs. BOBBY FISH- 6/10
Disappointingly short. This could have easily been a TV main event. And I would argue that it should have been because after this match, both Roderick Strong and AJ Styles hold singes victories over both tag champs, so you could use this to set up AJ and Roddy challenging reDRagon for the tag titles in what has the clear potential to be an MOTYC (and if you don't want to put the belts on AJ and Roddy, you can just have Roddy take the fall to not upset New Japan).
ROH WORLD TV TITLE MATCH: Jay Lethal(c) (w/the House of Truth) vs. Donovan Dijak- Or not. Instead of taking a TV Title shot, Dijak accepts an offer to join the House of Truth. I don't like someone giving up a TV Title shot, but Dijak is so much bigger than everyone else that heel enforcer is about the only way you can go with him.
The Dalton Castle came out and cut what would have been a good promo, except that I just can't get behind the character. He's wacky and eccentric and (a bit less than) ambiguously gay (they should TOTALLY name his two servants Ace & Gary!). So what. He really just doesn't seem like a good fit for ROH. He's just too wacky.
Anyway, he calls Dijak out for giving away a title shot, then challenges Lethal to a TV Title match. Lethal says no, but Castle goads him into a match by saying that if Lethal won't give him a title shot, he'll go challenge Jay Briscoe instead because Briscoe is a real champion.
ROH WORLD TV TITLE MATCH: Jay Lethal(c) (w/the House of Truth) vs. Dalton Castle (w/his "boys")- 4/10
This whole deal did what it needed to (put over the angle of Lethal claiming to be the top champion in ROH and the finish here got Dijak over), so it was very good for what it was.
reDRagon PROMO- it was interrupted by the Knights of the Rising Dawn hacking the feed. Have I made a joke about Solomon Crowe being behind this yet? Anyway, it's more cryptic BS. Move it along already!
ROH WORLD TITLE MATCH: Jay Briscoe(c) vs. Jimmy Jacobs- 6.75/10
Good for the relatively short amount of time it got on TV. The spot with Jimmy Jacobs becoming totally despondent, but then drawing inspiration from the ROH World Title belt was good, and was VERY Jimmy Jacobs.
A good show from ROH, but not up to their usual level of awesome (and certainly not up to Kevin Kelly's level of hype).
