Talent Announced for Global Force Wrestling at Orleans Arena
Chael Sonnen named GFW Analyst; Roster includes international talents, former professional football players and more
Las Vegas – Global Force Wrestling revealed some of its talent roster in a press conference today at the Orleans Arena. The roster includes talented international athletes, former NFL players, mixed martial artists and more.
“We have slowly but steadily been building toward this day,” said Jeff Jarrett, GFW founder and CEO. “The feedback I have received in my international travels has been off the charts. Fans are ready for the reveal of the entire GFW roster and they’re eager for their voices to be heard!”
Staying true to the GFW mission statement, the roster offers “elite professional athletes from five different continents,” as well as “real stories, real people and real meaning.” Fans will be able to see stars like the “Bullet Club” tag team of “Machine Gun” Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows; the “Killer Elite Squad,” a tag team composed of Lance Hoyt and Davey Boy Smith Jr., who have made a name for themselves in Japan as well as stints throughout the world. Also joining GFW are Chris “The Adonis” Mordetsky, South African sensation PJ Black, former NFL offensive lineman Quinn “Moose” Ojinnaka, and women’s stars Lei’D Tapa and Thea Trinidad, with more names to come. GFW has alliances with 13 promotions on five continents, including New Japan Pro-Wrestling, Mexico’s AAA and more top independent organizations in Europe, Australia and Africa.
Also at the press conference, outspoken MMA star and ESPN broadcaster Chael Sonnen announced his role as an expert analyst for Global Force Wrestling.
“As an expert analyst, Chael Sonnen is something we’ve talked about for a long time,” said Jarrett. “He’s not one to shy from speaking his mind, and we’re all eager to see what he has to say about the GFW athletes.”
The GFW Las Vegas TV tapings will take place on Friday, July 24; Friday, August 21; and Friday, October 23. Tickets for all three events will go on sale on Friday, May 15 at noon, with an exclusive pre-sale beginning on Monday, May 11 at noon. Tickets are available starting at $30 and can be purchased online at www.orleansarena.com, by phone at 702-284-7777 or in-person at Boyd Gaming box offices. VIP tickets will include a Meet & Greet with GFW talent. Join the conversation online with the hashtag #GFWVegas.

So basically the Gaijins of the heavyweight tag team division, female TNA cast-offs, WWE cast-offs (Gabriel is a good pick-up... Masters not so much), and Moose.
Not so exciting, IMO.

Dave noted that Moose's contract isn't up yet, but is up soon, and isn't exclusive the way some others are, so he could theoretically work for ROH and GFW until GFW starts doing TV, at which point he'd have to choose one or the other (or WWE).
Dave also said that Cornette is booked for some shows.

How many times have we seen KES vs. Bullet Club? It's got to be at least a hundred. When I saw those names I was afraid they'd be bringing in Ten-Koji, too. I would much rather see any or all of those guys booked as singles.cero2k wrote:you are a really negative personBig Red Machine wrote:So basically the Gaijins of the heavyweight tag team division, female TNA cast-offs, WWE cast-offs (Gabriel is a good pick-up... Look, these are talented wrestlers (and also they have Chris Masters and Lei'D Tapa), but none of them are anywhere near the top of the list of the indy guys and gals I'd have liked to see. I'm actually more excited about the possibility of Sonjay Dutt getting in the ring for GFW than I am about any of these guys (aside from Archer, and that's just because I'm a mark for chokeslams).
Give me AR Fox and Trevor Lee and Cheerleader Melissa and the Canadian Ninjas and Jigsaw and Drew Gulak and Shelton Benjamin and Chris Dickinson and Josh Alexander.

Let's give them a chance, BRM. This isn't the entire roster and I'm sure they are saving the best for last. Plus, how many big names or hot talents are free agents these days? Pretty much everyone that would be a big deal is already locked inBig Red Machine wrote:How many times have we seen KES vs. Bullet Club? It's got to be at least a hundred. Re: The GFW Roster Reveal Begins; Chael Sonnen Named GFW Ana
you can't build up a promotion with no names, especially if you're starting off with tapings. You start off a promotion with jigsaw, and melissa, and ar fox, and trevor lee, and no one will know who the fuck these people are. Jarrett is not starting an indie promotion, he's trying to go big again, like Badnewz said, who could you realistically bring in that is a big recognizable name and not signed by another promotion? I was personally expecting more guys like Carlito, Hawkins, Shelton Benjamin, best i was expecting was the dudleyz. So i'm really surprised and happy they got guys like Moose, Karl Anderson, Thea Trinidad, PJ Black (who i completely forgot about)Big Red Machine wrote:I'm not saying it's going to fail. And I'd be excited for the guys you named. I just have no desire to see Rosita or Chris Masters or (especially) Lei'D Tapa ever again, and I don't need to see the same damn KES vs. Bullet Club matches I've been seeing in New Japan for two years.cero2k wrote:you can't build up a promotion with no names, especially if you're starting off with tapings. And I think that if you have your names and then you also introduce one or two indy guys with them, it puts those indy names as being on parr with the big names.

that's what Moose, Thea, Sanada, Lei'D Tapa all are, but they're already somewhat recognizable namesBig Red Machine wrote: And I think that if you have your names and then you also introduce one or two indy guys with them, it puts those indy names as being on parr with the big names.

Re: The GFW Roster Reveal Begins; Chael Sonnen Named GFW Ana
Moose...maybe, although I assume he was just named because he played in the NFL. As for Rosita and Tapa... COME ON! Those are not close to big indy names. The other issue is that when you are trying to introduce a big indy name in this way as being on par with some big time names, they have to be... you know... really good. Rosita is average, and Tapa is awful. They're just up there because they were in TNA.cero2k wrote:that's what Moose, Thea, Sanada, Lei'D Tapa all are, but they're already somewhat recognizable namesBig Red Machine wrote: And I think that if you have your names and then you also introduce one or two indy guys with them, it puts those indy names as being on parr with the big names.

no, i mean they're the names that you push in along bigger names to make them seem relevantBig Red Machine wrote:Moose...maybe, although I assume he was just named because he played in the NFL. Oh. Okay. I see what you're saying now... but the very fact that they would go to Tapa isn't very confidence inspiring.cero2k wrote: no, i mean they're the names that you push in along bigger names to make them seem relevant

Lol, I feel you there. Maybe she's gotten better. Her look is great, but her and Rosita in the ring together cpu l d be a quick injury ready to happen.Big Red Machine wrote:Oh. Okay. Just heard they added Brodus Clay, Cliff Compton, and the Bucks! I'm excited about this. It seems that GFW is simply gonna give America the international wrestling we don't see very often (LU and the NJPW shows are on specialty channels)

I honestly haven't heard any about them since they left TNA, i know they've done some indie shows because i've seen them in the candice and joey show, I think Thea is dating Aries too. but that's it.badnewzxl wrote: Lol, I feel you there. Bucks, Brodus, and Moose are interesting in that they seem to suggest that GFW isn't working off of exclusive contracts as I can't see the Bucks signing one. What happens when it comes time for TV for both Moose and Tyrus will be interesting, but I think losing Tyrus cold be a blessing in disguise for TNA as it will give EC III a new feud that could help them extend his streak until BFG, where he should win the title from Kurt and keep it at least until Slammiversary.
As for Compton in GFW... would it be in bad taste to try to find an emoticon hanging itself?
