Why Shaw and Gunner Were Released By TNA

Post by Big Red Machine » Jun 23rd, '15, 08:26

According to sources, Gunner and Samuel Shaw were released by TNA due to the company not having any plans for them. They both had not been used regularly for some time.

Neither man did anything that led to their release, and they could return down the line.

This is the story, anyway, but it seems more like an excuse to me. How do you sign a guy to a multi-year deal, and then release him because you have no plans for him just two months later, without him even having appeared on TV in the interim.

it's not uncalled for, at the time they figured they would just get something and it didn't work out

I think it's more likely that these are budget cuts (though in Shaw's case, very deserved ones). That being said... HE'S FREAKIN' GUNNER! Fourteen months ago he was the hottest babyface in the company, and they did NOTHING with him after that. This situation shouldn't have even come up with him!

like i said, TNA now has a better option for an army gimmick with a dude that also helps PR because he lost a leg. It's like Bull Dempsey has nothing now that there are 2 other fat guys that can kick ass. I'm sure they're budget cuts, or simply kicking them out to bring in someone else. Sam Shaw IMO is a big wasted potential, a good writing team could have made gold with him
