WWE announced Friday that there will be an NXT show on 8/22 at the Barclays Center, the night before SummerSlam in the same building. The show will air live on WWE Network

That will mean WWE has booked the building for three straight nights as the following Monday Night Raw is also at the Barclays Center. Tickets go on sale on 7/18 for the NXT event.

The NXT event will go head-to-head with ROH's Field of Honor event in Brooklyn that features their stars in addition to NJPW's Shinsuke Nakamura and Kazuchika Okada.

This is just so douchy of WWE. And now that I think about it, they're trying to do the same thing to New Japan this weekend. I really hope that ROH outdraws them. Or at least does similar numbers so that they don't pull this again to try to f*ck with ROH or Gabe or whoever else.

sad to say it, but there is no way field of honor is outselling an NXT Takeover special

IDK how reliable Wikipedia is but it says this is the first NXT special to take place outside of Full Sail University

It's a Takeover special; I thought they said it during the Japan special, but I def saw a press release on Wrestlezone.

I don't think it's douchy; just competitive.

There's a logo out there already calling it nxt takeover Brooklyn. Also, if it's live on the network, it's pretty much a given it will be a takeover

Realistically, it is ROH who is trying to take advantage of WWE running Summerslam and bringing in people to the area, so I wouldn't say it's competitive nor Douchy, just typical WWE not giving a shit about anything outside their world and running their business.

I could be wrong, but I think ROH had the date before SummerSlam got moved to Brooklyn.
Granted, ROH has done something similar with the Rumble the past two years, but WWE never seemed to give a sh*t. It's just the combination of this and their attempts to run Philly so close to the ROH/New Japan shows (and, I think, directly opposite CZW) and their attempts t stop anyone else from running in the city Mania weekend that makes it come across that way.

This August, for the first time ever, NXT TakeOver emanates live from Brooklyn, N.Y. during SummerSlam 2015 Week!

The Superstars and Divas of Tomorrow have set the wrestling world on fire with the NXT TakeOver live specials on WWE Network, which have all emanated from Full Sail University in Florida — until now. As announced by WWE COO Triple H, on Saturday, Aug. 22, NXT will invade the Barclays Center on the eve of The Biggest Party of The Summer for the seventh NXT live special.

Brooklyn is the place to be this summer, with the 28th annual SummerSlam taking place on Sunday, August 23 and Monday Night Raw airing live on USA Network one night later, both also from the Barclays Center.

Don’t miss your chance to see the high-octane action featuring the next generation of WWE, live and in person on the biggest stage yet. Tickets for NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn go on sale Saturday, July 18 at 12 p.m. EST at Ticketmaster.com.

I wonder if this will be the start of them putting Takeover shows right before big PPVs?

I can see that, doing one before each of the 'big 4'

The problem with that is that it leaves you nothing between Mania and Summer Slam. I'd do it for SummerSlam and Survivor Series, but have the other two Takeover shows in February (to put NXT out of people's minds before the Rumble to make surprises more surprising) and in May, because that's three months after February and three months before SummerSlam.

I think the problem, or at least it was this year, was that they pretty much kill storylines during the WM season and it takes a bit to recover. I would have them be inbetween the big 4 and just push a big 'on the road' show for each big 4 and you can put them in the network as tapen attractions, but not live

That sounds like a pretty perfect model.
