John Cena Return Update
Source: PWInsider
By Mike Johnson on 2016-03-31 10:21:00
The word making the rounds within WWE is that John Cena is just about ready to return to the ring and is expected to be cleared anytime, if he hasn't been cleared already. He's absolutely expected to appear in some form at Wrestlemania this weekend.
Cena has been out of action since tearing a rotator cuff in December and undergoing surgery. He's been intensely rehabbing the injury since.

Re: John Cena Return Update
Here's a frightening scenario for you:
Cena interferes to help Shane win, then WWE does the Cena vs. Taker they had planned for Mania at Summer Slam.

Re: John Cena Return Update
It would be huge and would protect his face status because it's against Vince, it's against the Authority with John Cena cutting a short "we needed change promo" on the following Raw.cero2k wrote:I honestly rather see thisBig Red Machine wrote:Here's a frightening scenario for you:

Okay... but does that really justify:XIV wrote:It would be huge and would protect his face status because it's against Vince, it's against the Authority with John Cena cutting a short "we needed change promo" on the following Raw.cero2k wrote:I honestly rather see thisBig Red Machine wrote:Here's a frightening scenario for you:

1. An interference finish in a Mania main event
2. An interference finish in Hell in a Cell
3. SuperCena saving the day once again
4. Cena being the one to deny us seeing Taker at Mania ever again
At a time when you REALLY need the fans to start being less sour on the product?
I'd much rather get to Cena vs. Taker by having Taker win and then having Cena come back and accuse Taker of being selfish. If you really want to make the fans think, you could have Cena call Taker out for being a part-timer.
Just food for thought.

1. It is food for thought, but yes, it does warrant an interference in the Mania main event, because A- It's Cena and B- It would indicate that the top star in WWE is also ready to see change within WWE.Big Red Machine wrote:Okay... but does that really justify:XIV wrote:It would be huge and would protect his face status because it's against Vince, it's against the Authority with John Cena cutting a short "we needed change promo" on the following Raw.cero2k wrote: I honestly rather see this

2. It warrants an interference in Hell in a Cell, because you know that the action is going out and about for sure, Shane will have big spots in mind, so there'll be no Super Cena cell break-in.
3. It would indicate showing Cena as a real character instead of the plastic poster boy he has been, he'd get back to being a big-time face instead of it changing depending where he is in the country. Super Cena would have used his clout for real good to indicate real change, why shouldn't Cena be at the forefront this change and ultimately also retire the Undertaker? (potentially at Survivor Series, where it all began).
4. Whilst yes, he would deny us seeing Taker wrestling at Mania again, how many more has Taker got in him? Whilst the underbelly of it is hollow, there is a reason to make this Taker's last WM match without making the biggest of deals out of it and without retiring him for good.
I don't think fans would sour on the product at all if this was to happen and be done right.

2. Yeah... but I just hate interference in Hell in a Cell. I guess you could have the League of Nations interfere first.
3 & 4. He'd still be the poster boy. He's finally defeating the Authority and calling Taker out for being selfish.

Re: John Cena Return Update
1. I'm not saying they'd have to change Cena, Cena can stay pretty much the same.Big Red Machine wrote:1. If they wanted a change in top star, they would have done it already.XIV wrote:1. 2. I don't like interference in matches unless it truly makes sense so I agree with you here,
3 & 4. I am thinking about this and almost preferring it now, Cena calls the Undertaker out and gives a "you are the locker room leader, like myself, we have to make the decisions for the locker room that no-one else can, and Taker, you were selfish and you're no longer fit to lead the locker room" style promo. I actually like it. My only theory on that is that whilst the fans wanted change, they might see this as heelish behaviour.

Re: John Cena Return Update
I have no illusions that they will boo Cena no matter what he does in a Cena vs. Taker feud. I just think this is a much more interesting way to get there.
