ROH War Of The Wire II (7/28/2006)- Dayton, OH
HOMICIDE PROMO- good
TRIK DAVIS vs. JIMMY JACOBS (w/Lacey)- 4.75/10
PRAZAK INTERVIEWS NIGEL AND CABANA- Good stuff, and it also laid the seeds for the Cabana vs. Jacobs feud and the next major twist in the Jimmy Loves Lacey angle.
JERRELLE CLARK & DAVEY RICHARDS vs. JIMMY RAVE & SAL RINAURO (w/Daizee Haze)- 5.5/10
ROH PURE TITLE: Nigel McGuinness(c) vs. Colt Cabana- 6.25/10. GRR!... HATRED!... NIGEL!... JACKASS! HATE HIM SO MUCH! Anyone who knows anything about wrestling will see the finish to this match coming a mile away… but it still managed to evoke such a strong response from me. THIS is why I love wrestling, and for the finish alone I added .25 to the match’s score
MATT SYDAL vs. CHRISTOPHER DANIELS (w/Allison Danger)- 7.25/10 Sydal returns from Japan, Danger returns with Daniels for the first time in about a month and a half. Seeing Danger and Daniels together brought out an interesting thought, though: The fact that she spent so many years with Daniels makes Danger’s choice of husband seem very obvious. Clearly Allison has a type, and that type is Bald Evil Mastermind with a Goatee. Great aftermath, too.
FOUR CORNER SURVIVAL MATCH: Homicide vs. Austin Aries vs. Delirious vs. Bryan Danielson- 8/10. Awesome match. We got a bit of comedy and a lot of great wrestling.
THE BRISCOE BROTHERS vs. JACK EVANS & RODERICK STRONG- 7.5/10
SAMOA JOE PROMO- Awesome
EMBASSSY SEGMENT- good
CLAUDIO CASTAGNOLI PROMO- Claudio explains that he is under contract to Ring of Honor, so his turning on ROH during the feud with CZW doesn’t mean that he won’t be appearing anymore. This promo ended with Ace Steel and Colt Cabana coming out and brawling with Claudio and Nate Webb. In all honesty, the brawl didn’t seem necessary. CZW already lost. We get it that everyone still hates Claudio, but I think it would have been better to have Ace come out and have Claudio escape through the crowd.
During the confusion of the brawl, Necro Butcher and BJ Whitmer made their ways to the ring. Necro coming in from the door of the arena with no music (rather than a proper entrance down the ramp) was a nice touch.
NO ROPES BARBED WIRE MATCH: The Necro Butcher vs. BJ Whitmer (w/Homicide)- 8.25/10. I managed to enjoy this even while debating the moral implications these sorts of things with my mother.
I didn’t like the use of the thumbtacks here because it is “No Ropes Barbed Wire Match.” The occasional chair shot is okay, but they should be focusing on the barbed wire. If you want to use thumbtacks, have a thumbtacks match.
Overall, a great show from ROH, and a must-buy for BJ Whitmer fans, as well as fans of the Daniels-Sydal tag team.

I'm shocked you gave a no rope barbed wire match such a high rating. But I don't think using thumbtacks is such a bad thing. Did you disagree with Mankind using thumbtacks during the Hell in a Cell at KOTR? It's the same thing.

Hell in a Cell is different. It is (in theory) an enclosure to keep potential interference out (this was why Taker created it in the first place- to keep Chyna, Triple H, & Rick Rude out). The action in the ring and the weapons they will use, is still the draw. That was only the 2nd Hell in a Cell match. We didn't expect crazy bumps off the top yet. That match made Hell in a Cell what it is because of the crazy bumps that Foley took.yourcrapsweak wrote:I'm shocked you gave a no rope barbed wire match such a high rating. thumbtacks are a spot, I don't think they take anything away from a gimmick match, it only escalates the match by one notch, that's why you usually see them when the match is on it's climax, but by that time, we've usually seen the gimmick come into play for many occasions. Same with a flaming table or a big ladder jump.
