BRM Reviews ROH Supercard Of Honor VI

ROH Supercard Of Honor VI (5/21/2011)- Chicago, IL

HOMICIDE vs. MICHAEL ELGIN (w/Truth Martini)- 5/10

ADAM COLE & KYLE O’REILLY PROMO- Kyle was boring, Cole was great.

THE BRAVADO BROTHERS vs. ADAM COLE & KYLE O’REILLY- 6.25/10

PRE-MATCH SEGMENT- AWESOME. Great stuff by Bennett and Corino, and an AWESOME promo by the returning Jimmy Jacobs

STEVE CORINO vs. MIKE BENNETT- 3/10. I think they really screwed up with the story in this match. This whole angle is about Corino trying to resist the urge to cheat and Bennett being determined to make him fall of off the wagon. In the match, though… Corino is the one cheating, and with no hesitation. It seems to me like Corino has fallen off of the wagon (with barely any help from Bennett), but this was never addressed in any later promos.

EL GENERICO vs. CHRIS HERO (w/Shane Hagadorn)- 5.75/10 Originally Hero had pinned Generico using the ropes for illegal leverage. Sinclair didn’t see it, but made the decision to restart simply because people told him it had happened. As Eric Santamaria said on commentary “if he didn’t see it, he can’t call it.” If Sinclair could do this, why don’t referees do it every time there is suspicion that someone cheated? Anyway this restart killed the momentum of the match. Then Generico got the win quickly afterwards with a non-finisher.

CHARLIE HAAS vs. DAVEY RICHARDS- 7.5/10

SHELTON BENJAMIN vs. CLAUDIO CASTAGNOLI (w/Shane Hagadorn)- 6.5/10.

COLT CABANA vs. CHRISTOPHER DANIELS- 4.5/10. Extremely disappointing. The finish and aftermath were good, and I would normally give something like this a “no rating” but this is ROH and two extremely talented wrestlers. There was no reason they couldn’t have had a satisfying match and done the same finish.

CHICAGO STREET FIGHT: The Briscoe Brothers vs. The All-Night Express- 8/10. Violence!

ROH WORLD TITLE MATCH: Eddie Edwards(c) vs. Roderick Strong (w/Truth Martini)- 8.5/10. Hard hitting match, but I felt that Roddy gave up a little too quickly.

POST-MATCH SEGMENT- good

Overall, a very good show from ROH.
