Same here. I guess the problem was that it looked lame.yourcrapsweak wrote:I thought the concept wasn't that bad.Earth Child wrote:Punjabi prison match.
this. Not just bc the match itself sucked, but bc EVERY one of these matches has been lame except MAYBE one (Sting v. Jake)kirbs2002 wrote:*Anything* on a pole match. I have yet to see a good *such and such* on a pole match.
The Tower of Doom! Worst idea ever. What the fuck were they thinking?cero2k wrote:tuxedo matches, and that match that Hogan and Macho man had were they needed to get in a cage, fight the world, hit people with a frying pan, then escape again, i don't recall what it was called...

BadNewz don't videolink us this s**t!That was awful... oh and not forgetting that before escaping Macho Man forgot to pin someone so had to run back and pin, though, quite why a pin in a F'ed up cage match was necessary, I forget now..
I don't think cage matches are made primarily for those two reasons, but I don't like the escape option that much either. I always thought ppl were put in cage matches bc they REALLY wanted to hurt one another, and cage matches are the"most dangerous matches in pro wrestling." I don't mind escapes all the time, but I HATE it when someone escapes through the door; that's just stupid. I think cage matches should def have locked doors and, most of the time, a top for the two reasons BRM listed above.Big Red Machine wrote:While we're talking about Cage matches, I have always hated the "escape" stip, especially if the match is Escape Only. The point of the cage is to either
1) Keep the wrestlers in the ring (i.e. stop the heel from running away)
or
2) Keep others out (i.e. stop interference)
This is done to ensure a good, clean finish in which ONE MAN BEATS THE OTHER IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RING (again, the reason for the match in the first place was because someone didn't want this to happen). So why the hell would you have a stip where you can win the match by doing the EXACT THING THE STIP IS DESIGNED TO AVOID? It makes no sense.
Also, what satisfaction is there for the babyface when he wins a match by RUNNING AWAY from the heels? That's not a very babyface thing to do.

The obvious reason they allow escapes is for the heel to tease at running away and so there can still be some kind of interference....
oh def; but I've heard more commentators refer to cage matches as the most dangerous matches than I have heard any other explained as such....Big Red Machine wrote:badnewzxl wrote:I don't think cage matches are made primarily for those two reasons, but I don't like the escape option that much either. Those are the reasons, historically. You can probably hurt someone a lot more in a No DQ's match than in a regular cage match (which, IMO, is part of why the HIAC cell extends around the ring, so you can use weapons [like Triple H vs. HBK]).
And there shouldn't be any interference in a cage match. That defeats the whole point of it!
Becase they're trying to sell you the match. A no DQ match is far more dangerous. Also, this explanation of cage matches being "more dangerous" only cmae about AFTER the advent of the escape stip.badnewzxl wrote:oh def; but I've heard more commentators refer to cage matches as the most dangerous matches than I have heard any other explained as such....Big Red Machine wrote:badnewzxl wrote:I don't think cage matches are made primarily for those two reasons, but I don't like the escape option that much either. Of course they sell you the match that way; that's what I was saying. Kayfabe it IS the most dangerous match. Legitimately, I don't think any match (other than Deathmatches of course) is more dangerous than the cage match. No DQ and No Holds Barred matches CAN be as dangerous as cag ematches, but only if an element is added. The cage match ALWAYS has a dangerous element involved; THE CAGE!Big Red Machine wrote: Becase they're trying to sell you the match. A no DQ match is far more dangerous. Look at a case like Sting-Flair. Sting didn't want to hurt Flair, and Flair didn't really want to hurt Sting. They didn't hate each other the same way that Raven and Dreamer or HBK and Triple H did. Tey just had comepting interests. Flair and the Horsemen would beat Sting (or Luger, or Dusty, or whoever) down to prevent him from winning the title because Flair wanted to keep the title. Sting wanted to win the title. They had a cage match so the Horsemen wouldn't interfere.
They say the same thing about Ladder matches, TLC, and various death-match stips. They can't ALL be the kayfabe most dangerous match type. I think that a cage was in the 80's, when blood wasn't as common, and people almost always bled in cage matches. In the 90's and on, we tend to think of things like Ladder matchas as being more dangerous.badnewzxl wrote:Of course they sell you the match that way; that's what I was saying. When they talk about how dangerous the cage match is, I think they're referring to the frequency at which ppl are injured (either legit or kayfabe) in the match itself bc of the damage the cage causes.
