The New WWE Tag Team Division

Post by Big Red Machine » Oct 16th, '12, 15:37

I have to give WWE major props for this. It really feels like they have a tag team division again. It's not just that they have a bunch of teams with names all of a sudden. The teams really feel like teams. They wrestle as a team more often than not, and WWE has done a great job to try to get them on TV together a lot recently. It isn't the most talented tag team division you'll ever see, but it definitely feels like a real division now.

I suppose this is the best we're going to get before they all disband and verse each other at Wrestlemania :p

this is actually something that worries me. We know at least that Sin Cara and Rey will break up, and Hell No will likely break up too. CoBro, Rhodes Scholars will fade away like Kofi and Truth did. WWE needs to be ready to rebound when that happens. It shouldn't be long for Ascension to debut, they seem quite ready.

I don't see Hell No breaking up. I see their story ending friendship, rather than a feud.

How can it be commendable when they're not even pushing the people who are supposed to be tag teams?

The Usos, PTP, and the Colons?

I'm hoping this is what brings everything together. A possible approach to make the division relevant again, by focusing on makeshift teams of singles wrestlers, the champions boasting "I am the Tag Team Champions", in an effort to quickly bring attention to the division and elevate the titles. Enter a new traditional team to the scene and have them take over, phase out the makeshift ones, and we've got us a proper tag team division that actually means something. They could have done this by pushing PTP off the bat (like was rumored), but this will be way more effective.

If I'm wrong, then I'm with Verdun. My biggest problem is that they're not pulling the trigger with any of these new "teams", just like with Kofi and Truth. When I say "pull the trigger", I'm referring to teams like The Acolytes and The New Age Outlaws, teams where they put two singles guys together and committed to them being a team. While I applaud the effort, this tournament has been nothing but the same uninspired teams we've been subjected to the last few years, just more of them.
